Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love

Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love

One of my favourite albums of all time.

The perfect pop of Side 1. The dreamy experimentalism of Side 2. Honestly, it’s The Ninth Wave that truly makes this album. It feels like sinking deeper and deeper into a sea of dreams. There’s something magical about it, oceans, dreams, death, space. All that’s deep, dark, and unknowable.

In this suite of songs Kate Bush’s dream finds her drowning in a frigid river, haunting her lover as a ghost, and eventually orbiting the Earth. You can sort of piece together a connected story from these songs, but it’s never a simple A to B. It is a dream after all.

All songs are highlights. I couldn’t omit any of them. It’s perfect.

Favourites: Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)  The Big Sky  Cloudbusting  Watching You Without Me

Other Highlights: Hounds Of Love  Mother Stands For Comfort  And Dream Of Sheep  Under Ice  Waking The Witch  Jig Of Life  Hello Earth  Morning Fog
